Well, that is it. The final touches have happened, and tomorrow morning we will be ready for the soft opening of de*cid*u*ous. I readily admit that I am nervous, but I am proud of what we did together. This post may get a little winded. One, for anyone that cares to read before visiting, it will be helpful in navigating. Two, it helps me to process my thoughts. There are so many thoughts.
The soft opening starts at 8AM SLT tomorrow morning. So, why do it that way? We came up with our early entrance lists together, and individually. Tate and I have been so lucky to happen upon an amazing group of friends. Seriously, my friends are more awesome than yours. ;) They were the first on the list. We knew our friends would not fluff any egos. If the sim sucked, they would say so. Next, we came up with individual lists that made up people we had never met in world. Tate has her preferred landscape/decor artists. I have preferred artists that capture strong emotions in their photography. When we really put thought into it, there were like 2000 people we wanted to invite. We had to cut that down to about 20 people each. Then we got down to creators who contributed to the sim in just what they have made in Second Life. By doing it this way, it gives us a solid week of feedback to make any last minute improvements before we are public.
There is a landing point with the normal welcome message, a group joiner ($0), and a Flickr link to our group. When we are public, the group will be needed in order to rez objects for your photos. The group is free, and there are no donation boxes. We literally just want you to enjoy the sim. There is an established set of paths. Sometimes you have to choose a direction. Take your time, and discover everything. At the scenes/installations you will see an easel. Just touch them to receive a notecard. It does not explain the scene outright. However, it will give you my words about the scene...sometimes cryptic...sometimes blunt. There are little hidden spots all around for people who just want to sit and take it in. Some items have poses inside them, but if you are in the group, you can rez poses of your own.
The concept is a sim representing a life. In this case, it is my life. Snapshots of it. Scenes that have shaped me as a person, and torn me down as well. It is personal for both Tate and I. When you land, I encourage you to turn on the stream. Even the music is personal. I created a radio station for this sim. Every song means something, or represents a moment in time. There is also some original music in the stream by means of my guitar. The sim is about a life, but it is also about recovery and letting go. At the very end of the sim, there is a small parcel that is a party space. I have had the people I am closest to leave little items to remind me of them there. I am a sentimental mofo. If you visit, and have any questions, please feel free to contact me in world. I am happy to help. :) ~Trip
