Truth: Stars can't shine without darkness.
It is no secret to the people closest to me that my brain works in mysterious ways. A lifetime of experience has molded my brain into something that is likely shaped like an upside down pyramid. All the ends are pointy. Believe me that there have been days where I have wanted to allow myself to just go where it would lead. I know where it leads. This experience has afforded me a skill in mixing the right pills to numb the pointy ends. Today, I just embrace what I am. There are no substances that numb me. There are no hiding places. Through my darkness I have learned how to shine brightest. I am a beacon. I am a lighthouse. Most importantly, I am a phoenix.
I hope you shine your brightest too. You are all stars.
